walker ktvu channel 2 news. >> the helicopter used to drop water on that fire was actually taking water from lake her rain. a call fire helicopter dipped into the east part of the lake. two other fires last friday, the first one was put out by a passerby. the second fire started near owning moore and clemmons road. firefighters were able to put that fair out quickly. investigators say the fires are suspicious because they burned in the same area and on the same day. dublin police are asking for the public's help to find a hit-and-run driver who left a 25-year-old woman in intensive care with major head injuries. it happened on 580 near the altamonte pass yesterday morning. we obtained 911 calls from that crash and the wreckage left behind. >> reporter: the accident happened on westbound 580.

the victim crossed several lanes of traffic before hitting that sign rolling down the embankment before finally landing on the onramp. >> 911 emergency what are you reporting. >> went off the overpass on the side of the road. >> reporter: we know there were witnesses to the accident because 911 calls started coming in moments after the green toyota truck lost control. >> guy just went off the road and flipped his truck about five times. >> reporter: the damage to the truck was significant. the impact left the driver 25- year-old with major head true. >> she was able to survive. without a seatbelt would not be a survivable collision. >> reporter: what's still unclear is exactly what happened and who's responsible. investigators believe a dark- colored sedan hit the back corner of the truck at 65 or 70 miles an hour. >> he hit it really hard. >> reporter: the driver of that other car just kept going. >> in spite of what was

horrific type of collision occurring next to him, that dark sedan described as most people as possibly black in color with possible right side damage continued westbound 580 and never stopped at the scene. >> reporter: chp says even though this accident didn't happen in commute hours this stretch of road is always busy and they are hoeing someone saw something that will help them crack this case. in in lafayette police are investigating a crash that killed a woman at 1:15 this afternoon. police say a truck hit the woman at the intersection of el nitto ranch road and upper happy valley road. the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. the truck driver is cooperating with investigators. at this point the names of both the driver and the woman aren't being released. ride share company such as uber and lift are increasingly the target of new laws nation

news. they will ask the city council to buy a new security surveillance system to help fight crime. the $300,000 system includes cameras and license plate readers. they would be put on about a dozen roads leading in and out of the city. the police department says the cameras and readers are needed because the majority of the crimes in fremont are committed by people who don't live there. the city council is set to vote on the proposal during its meeting which begins at 7:00 tonight. some high tech tools have uncovered a hidden image in an early painting by pablo picasso. he created the blue room in 1901. it's considered one of his first masterpieces. curators at the phillips collection washington d. c. suspected there might be something underneath the paint. so they used an infrared camera to scan the painting, and the researchers discovered a portrait of an unknown man wearing a bowtie underneath the existing painting of a woman bathing. >> it's one of those things that makes what you do special.

. 20 years ago today an estimated 95 million people watched the drama unfold in what's widely considered the most infamous live police chase in television history the chase involved o. j. simpson in that white ford bronco going down a los angeles freeway. he was eventually arrested and later acquit flood the double murder of his ex-wife nichol brown simpson and her friend ronald goldman. employees for the marin veterans memorial center were protesting they are upset of a lack of security who control guests who get out of hand. in recent months there have been a number of violent incidents and assaults.

a spike in crime in a bay area city and tonight we hear from a woman who caught a burglar in the act. >> we always watch. we're always watching. >> today police in san leandro were out warning people about a large increase in the number of car break-ins. ally rasmus is here. she spoke to a woman how she came face-to-face with a chief and what thief and what she did next. >> reporter: they went car-to- car person-to-person giving shoppers a verbal and in some cases written reminder that if they have valuables in their car to keep them out of sight. a gated garage is supposed to keep valuables in and burglars out. sometimes it doesn't work that way. >> he cut the lock that they had with that lock cutter. >> reporter: this woman goes by the name linda. she was working in the building next to the garage saturday night when something unusual caught her high. >> i noticed that the trash
